Hello everyone, well I have had a hectic few weeks.I am finally over my injury I got in Saas Fee. I haven't tried to ride yet but I am pretty sure it is OK. I was at board X and the Union Awards which was great fun. I didn't ride though as my back was still pretty sore.
I was in the UK to see myself on Superstars too and even found myself cheering me on! Weird!
Right now I am on my way to Laax fot the first World Cup which is on the 29th Nov. I am really looking forward to riding pipe as I have not done so much pipe riding for a while. Jenny Jones is coming with me so I think we will have a good time too. The film is coming along fine and we are going to start filming again soon.
Hope you are all well,
X Les

Hello everyone. Well winter is definitely upon us. I am in Saas Fee and it is very cold and snowing. I have been here for a few days already and have been having a lot of fun riding with a large posse of Brits. We even got a few days of powder snow. The pipe is super icy though and the landing of the kicker is also pretty hard as I found out when I did an accidental front flip to back the other day. I was really lucky to get away with a bruised back. I have had to take the last four days off riding though as my muscle refuses to work any more. I did hit it very hard.
I am going to leave here tomorrow and head to London for Board X next week. I hope I will be able to ride there and that my bruised back will have recovered enough to enjoy the union awards!!!
See you there, X Les

Hello there, I am just back from New Zealand and am still buzzing with the excitement of the trip. It was definitely one of the best and most fun trips I have been on and we were lucky enough to have powder snow right until the end!!
I think the highlight of the trip as far as riding went was the day we went heli boarding. None of us had done it before and we got a beautiful sunny day for it with a lot of new snow too. It was a lot harder than we had thought to film free riding shots though as you really do not have a clue where you are going to go. You are up at the top of the mountain, having selected a line to do from the bottom, with a vast expanse of white powder before you that drops away out of sight. You have an idea of the area you should be heading for but you can't see it and you can't stop half way to have a look as the cameras are filming you and you will ruin the shot. It is pretty nerve wracking.
Close behind the heli boarding was the Snowpark resort. Snowpark is a whole resort dedicated to obstacles to play on. The super pipe was excellent and was by far the best pipe I had ridden all summer. The kickers were great and the rails were great too. We did a lot of filming there and got some great footage. Unfortunately, Lisa F hurt herself on the last day we were there by going too big off the really big kicker. They had built the kicker for the Burton photo shoot and the Burton guys had apparently been ripping off it. However everyone at Snowpark who saw Lisa's slam said she went way bigger than any of the Burton lot!!
Lisa was not the only casualty on the trip as Tina B managed to bite right through her bottom lip and kill her front tooth in a very gorey fall indeed. Me and Stine managed to ride until the end but were a bit beat up and sore by the time we got to Aukland for a few days before we flew home. In Aukland we went on a couple of TV shows and hung out in the very spring like weather. It is very strange to be back here with all the trees turning to autumn colours and the nights drawing in.
I am going to chill out for a bit now and do some dry land training before I go to Saas Fee in the middle of Oct.
Bye for now, X Les

I am having a ball out here in New Zealand and have been lucky enough to get the best powder of the season here so far. We have been filming a lot and have been heli boarding twice as well as building a lot of back country kickers. There is a brilliant resort here called 'Snowpark' which is just a big park and pipe and it is so much fun to ride there. We have been made to feel very welcome everywhere we go and have also been lucky enough to have three Peugeot cars with our 'Dropstitch' logo on the side to drive around in. The word is definitely out about our film and these cars have been helping to get the name noticed which is great.
Next week we are heading to the club fields where we will hopefully get to ride more powder and build more kickers then we will be off to Aukland to do some TV stuff and maybe get a day surfing on the coast too.
New Zealand really does feel like a home away from home and I have met a lot of fellow Scots out here. It is a really great place.
Hope you are all fine.
cheers, les

Hello everyone, Hope you have all managed to make the most of the hot weather and have got some surfing in!!! I have been learning to surf and I love it. I never really got it before as I was, and still am, pretty rubbish at it but I can now kind of stand up at least and I can tell you if you have never tried it try it it rules.
I rode until the middle of July but the glaciers in Europe were looking pretty grim so I cut my losses and headed for the waves instead. I also got in a good bit of mountain biking in Aviemore and have been training pretty hard in the gym too. Infact I have been very busy. I also managed to swing by the Hillend AIM series comp and was well impressed with the riding going on there, keep it up!!!
I have been getting the girls film up and galloping too and if you want to check out the trailer then the link is as follows:

I am now going on holiday for a few weeks before I get back on the snow in New Zealand at the end of the month.

Hello everyone,
Hope you are all well. I have been really busy as usual and have just come back from the Snowboard UK board test in Tignes and the Kommunity camp in Les 2 Alpes. Both were very fun even although the snow was very soft and the weather very hot. I did manage to learn a new trick though. I was spinning cab 540s off the little kicker which I was really happy about.
The pipe in Tignes was a bit too soft to ride really but the pne in Les 2 Alpes was very good and was both big and fast.
I am now in London trying to sort out some sponsorship stuff. I will be back in Scotland for the AIM series event in Edinburgh on the 27th of July though and am looking forward to that a lot.
The next time I will be on snow will be in August in New Zealand and until then I am going to try and learn how to surf.
I will keep you posted!
Cheers, les

Hello everyone,
Hope you are all well and have managed to get onto the snow in the last month. I am finally managing to chill out for a few days after a very hectic few weeks indeed. After the finals in Arosa where I ended up 8th in the pipe and 5th in the overall standings I headed to Les Arcs for the Quiksilver and Roxy Slopestyle pro event and managed to come 3rd in that which I was very happy with.
I don't ride many slopestyle events so was not really expecting too much. I just tried to have as much fun as I could and next I knew I was straight into the finals! I was having a very good day the day of the finals and ended up 3rd behind Roxy team mates Cuca Aranda and Stine Brunkjeldas.
From there I went to the Brits in Les 2 Alpes.I was already very worn out and beat up by the time I got there but managed to win the pipe and come second in the big air which I was very pleased about. I also had one of the most fun weeks I have had for ages.A lot of friends were out there supporting the AIM series and there were also a lot of kids ripping it up. I was especially happy to see all the Scottish rippers out there. You all ruled!
I am now chilling for a week then heading back to Austria for the end of the season.
Hope to see yo all soon,
Cheers, Les

Top British Snowboarder, Lesley McKenna qualified strongly for the finals in today's World Cup Half-pipe in Serre-Chevalier.
Despite concerns about the quality of the pipe in the French resort, McKenna qualified in second place from the first round, matching the highest points of the day (8.4) for standard airs.
"I was really excited just to make the finals," said McKenna, "if the pipe is good, I know I'm up there, but today's pipe was a bit sketchy - you just don't get the height."
In this evening's finals, McKenna acknowledges that she just didn't hit the right line.
"I tried a back to back 520 in the first run and then a 520 to a 720 in the second, but I didn't quite pull it off tonight."
McKenna and coach, Andreas Avik will now make the relatively short trip to Arosa in Swizerland for the World Cup Finals.
"I'm really looking forward to the Finals," said Lesley, "the competition may be a bit tougher, but I am sure the pipe will be good."
Meanwhile, cousins Alain and Noel Baxter must wait only a few hours to learn if the bad weather, which forced the cancellation of the Men's GS event in Shiga Kogen, will effect their slalom start in the early hours (GMT) of Saturday (8/3/03) morning.

Lesley McKenna translated recent training form into World Cup victory in last night's FIS World Cup Snowboard Half-pipe competition in Sapporo, Japan (1/3/03).
McKenna has taken training back to basics this season, honing her riding skills and practicing new tricks, among them a 900 spin, which to her knowledge only one other girl, 5th placed Hannah Teter of the USA, has successfully executed. Having completed the previous two season ranked 3rd and 4th respectively in the Overall World Cup Halfpipe standings, today's result ends a frustrating competition phase for Lesley, whose best this season has been 11th in Laax, Switzerland, in November.
"I just had to be patient with myself. I knew that the work I had been doing would pay off in the end, but I had been crashing a lot in competition and failing to make finals. Yesterday, my coach advised me to forget about the competition, just go out there, ride big, and enjoy it - and I won!"
Lesley achieved a massive 8.3 score for amplitude in the 1st run of the finals today, which clinched the event for her, indicating that she is simply riding higher than any other girl. Today she executed a 540, followed by a 720 in the first run and a back-to-back 540 in the second.
"There's another competition tomorrow and I'm going to go even bigger. Perhaps even the 900 for the first time in competition", stated an excited McKenna.
Last year's World Cup winner Manuela Pederzolli finished 4th today, but it was the competition from Teter, 3rd in this year's prestigious X-Games Lesley feared most. Equal to the challenge, McKenna beat them all off to enjoy her first experience on top of the podium.
"I got to wear the Saltire on the podium. This morning when I got to the pipe, there were only two flags on display and they were both Scottish - turns out a friend of mine is teaching English in Japan", said Lesley who is an ambassador for Visit Scotland.
Far East competition continues tonight with McKenna in Half-pipe action again in Japan and her cousins, Alain and Noel Baxter, competing in Slalom in Yong Pyong, Korea.
